Juiceverket (at Mood Gallery – Norrlandsgatan) is definitely one of my favourite hang outs. They now have more than 6 branches around Stockholm. I was there today (just coming back from holiday) and saw that they have a new juice menu!
After having some difficulties to decided I went for
Ginger Green Sumo
Turned out to be an excellent choice. Despite being 70% veggie, it was really tasty. Became my lunch and lasted me all the way to dinner
Service is great, drinks are great, music is loud!
Hotel Grand Marstrand is located in the center of the Island of Marstrand – with a magnificent view of the harbour, you can enjoy fine dining in an hotel that dates back to 1892. At that time this was a summer residence for king Oscar II. The menu is very traditional and some of the dishes dates back to the 19th century and was enjoyed by the king!

Ok, two items are ”maybe” a must on the menu – Tenans gratinated crayfish and File Africana is served (with a lot of…interesting sides) see for yourself. Everything is prepared according to original recipes. We went for the Turbot (high priced) which was enough for two.
The Cod was absolutely perfect and the vegetables fitted well.
For the dessert we had Pavlova and some sorbets, both very good.
All in all, a great night out. Good quality food and warm friendly service. Not cheap, but priceworthy. We stayed at the hotel which made the evening even better. There are a total of three hotels on the Island (if you don’t want to catch the bus back to Gothenburg).
Smaka is located on the Vasaplatsen, close to the Haga and Nya Allen and is one of the best restaurants for Swedish food in Gothenburg without having to re-mortgage your house. Restaurant Smaka has a very traditional Swedish menu and also a popular bar with high ceilings and very personal touch. The relaxed personal (friendly but not superfast) makes it easy to enjoy the dinner. This place has a high ranking on tripadvisor and therefore it is crowded tourist – and I understand them since its menu has everything the swedish kitchen has to offer at very reasonable prices.
On the menu you will of course find Meatballs, which is the most asked for dish by tourist. Smaka makes them with a special twist which was very good. Smaka is not a touristy restaurant like those on the main avenue (just 100m away). It has local cuisine that is consistently excellent. Also try the elk burger and deer file.
A big starter is the swedish miniature smorgasbord. Instead I went for the shrimp sandwich which was loaded with fresh shrimp. Perfect with one of the local beers
As a starter I recommend the oysters just out of the waters from the swedish west coast
Smakas Fish Gratin also come highly recommended by the waiter
All in all – The atmosphere in Smaka was buzzing, the staff were friendly, smiling and provided excellent service. It was quite noisy so not a place for a quiet tête-à-tête but it felt like everyone was having a great night out. I guess its the kind of place you go for a meal and stay for drinks…if not there are plenty of good bars close by.
