Hakkasan – Shanghai

5F,No.18 Zhongshan East 1st Road, Huangpu District (The bund)

Hakkasan is the shanghai version of the brand started in London by entrepreneur Alan Yau, who also created the hugely successful Wagamama chain of noodle restaurants in the UK.

Although it sounds asian, Hakkasan Shanghai is its first outlet in China, bringing the British Chinese food brand to China (!)

Fantastic dining experience of experimental great food and service. Located in an old Bund building and if you are lucky you get a table with a view over the river and the Pudong Skyscrapes. Food is typical fusion and experience is absolutely impeccable. All cooked to perfection, would particularly recommend bird’s nest dishes which might sound weird but in fact a true delicates in Asia and is sold for USD 2500/kilo on the market!

The restaurant is well worth its Michelin status but maybe the most striking feature is the space itself. It’s beautifully appointed with dim lights and intricate wooden screens which create cozy little alcoves.

IMG_1001The restaurant’s mixologists are charged with making “fresh and eclectic” cocktails using fresh ingredients, homemade purees, foams, fruits, herbs and spices that pay a modern homage to Asian flavors.

Its a truly a unique experience!
